On Wednesday, February 4, 2020 Alums for Campus Fairness (ACF) learned that the safety of Jewish students was at risk during a meeting of the ASUC Senate University and External Affairs Committee (Excomm).

According to testimony and several video sources, we are alarmed by several antisemitic incidents that took place at the meeting. Both a Jewish student was threatened with physical violence and a member of the audience told their allies to make sure a video was removed from the phone of a separate Jewish student. We can not and will not tolerate direct targeting and explicit discrimination of Jewish students on campus.

ACF will continue to be actively engaged in taking action in response to this incident. We call on UC Berkeley to act swiftly to protect Jewish students and ensure that threatening the safety of members of the Jewish community will not be tolerated.

About ACF: Alums for Campus Fairness (ACF) is America’s unified alumni voice on issues of antisemitism, demonization of Israel, and bigotry. With over thirty-five chapters, ACF positions thousands of alumni on the front lines of key issues at their alma maters and works to ensure that universities remain pillars of open dialogue and equal opportunity for all students.
