ACF-COLUMBIA/BARNARD APPLAUDS CCSC FOR TURNING DOWN BDS

ACF-Columbia/Barnard applauds Columbia College Student Council (CCSC) for voting down a referendum on BDS last night. In the more than four hour meeting, it was clear that the Pro-Israel students representing Aryeh and Students Support Israel were well equipped to effectively advocate against this hateful movement. Discrimination and intimidation have been an unfortunate reality on Columbia amid the rising anti-Semitic and anti-Israel acts on campus. Indeed, President Bollinger already rejected the idea of divesting from Israel last year.

It is our hope that with this failed referendum, Pro Israel students will again be proud to be openly Jewish and in support of Israel, without the fear of intimidation by their fellow students. The University is supposed to be a marketplace of ideas where lively debate is to be not only expected, but respected. At Columbia, this divisive attempt by the anti-Israel movement on campus, was thwarted once again. ACF-Columbia/Barnard is proud to support the Jewish and Pro Israel community on campus and will continue to ensure their ability to share the truth about Israel on campus.
